Massimiliano Allegri believes Juventus “have an excellent opportunity to progress” against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Bianconeri face the German giants in the Last 16 of the competition, having finished second in their group thanks to a last day defeat at Sevilla.

“Knowing what I’ll say to the team the day before the game is difficult, because it’s still two and a half months away,” Allegri explained to JTV.

The Bianconeri face the German giants in the Last 16 of the competition, having finished second in their group thanks to a last day defeat at Sevilla.

“Knowing what I’ll say to the team the day before the game is difficult, because it’s still two and a half months away,” Allegri explained to JTV.

“What I can say is that we’re facing a big Last 16 tie, one that’s harder than all the others in the Last 16.

“We know we’re facing a top team in Bayern, we have an excellent opportunity to progress, but in these games it also takes some luck.

“We’re looking at things positively though, if we go through we’ll have eliminated one of the Champions League favourites.

“We had an almost perfect group, because perfection exists, focusing on the last match against Sevilla because it would have allowed us to finish the group stage unbeaten and above everyone.”

Allegri also took the time to thank the Juve fans, after recovering from a poor start to the season.

“I thank all the fans who support us, and support the team in every game, but we’re only halfway.

“I’d say that we changed a lot of players this year, 10 changes in total and that’s not few.

“We have a lot of youngsters, who are growing thanks to a core of older players who have helped and are helping them grow.”
