Juventus and Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Ilkay Gundogan, who may look to leave Manchester City this summer.

The 31-year-old German midfielder was a regular feature in Pep Guardiola’s squad this season, making 43 appearances across all competitions and contributing to 16 goals. He is reportedly unhappy with his usage last campaign, possibly linked to the fact that he only made 20 Premier League starts, and so may look to leave the club a year ahead of his contract expiry.

As reported by Bild, Juventus and Barcelona are both closely monitoring Gundogan’s situation at Manchester City as they consider a possible summer move. The German would be an experienced and consistent reinforcement who could arrive at a low-cost.

The Bianconeri are looking to provide coach Massimiliano Allegri with a number of new midfielders this summer like Paul Pogba, and the German could be added to that list.

Gundogan joined the Citizens in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth around €27m. He’s made 253 appearances for the club, scoring 49 goals and providing 33 assists.

  1. Barca first, then Juve on a free when he will 37 years young. PhD Max will require him to do a back, back, down, down trial test first.

  2. Still just rumors but it seems that the only criteria for juve´s transferplans is that players has to be 30+. Then why not add a buy-back clauses when players turn 30ish, in 5-8 years Coman, Demiral and Kulusevski is perfectly suited for Allegri-ball and ready to be released back for free on a 8,5M contract each.
