Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has reportedly complained that Roma and Juventus’ midweek defeats have ‘devalued’ Italian football.

Juventus were defeated 1-0 in Athens by Olympiacos, while Roma suffered humiliation at the hands of German champions Bayern Munich, going down 7-1 in front of their own fans.

It is a couple of results that has reportedly come at the frustration of Milan’s President and former Italian Prime Minister.

“Roma and Juventus’ defeats – particularly Roma’s – devalue Italian football,” Berlusconi is quoted as reportedly saying, by the Corriere della Sera.

“The parameters for clubs are lowered, and not only that, you lose positions in the European rankings.

“A defeat like Roma’s lowers the value of a player who plays in our League.

“After a defeat like that, one of our players could be worth one 14th of the value of a player in the German League.”
