According to Corriere dello Sport, Andrea Barzagli’s age and Medhi Benatia’s ‘unconvincing’ displays are behind Juve’s interest, while Bayern would be in dire need of a revamp.

The Greek is also available at an affordable price, given his contract contains a €36m release clause.

However, despite there little movement so far, Il Corriere assures Roma sporting director Monchi ‘is laying the groundwork to revise Manolas’ contract’, with the intention of removing the clause altogether.

The pair are also described as having a ‘solid relationship’ and being in ‘constant contact’ with each other.
