Marotta’s work as general manager helped Juve become a dominant force in Serie A, and he expressed his desire to turn Inter into a ‘winning’ team.

“I had some difficulty coming here, like it always happens when I switch from one club to another,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.

“Above all, I can guarantee experience. As a club, we have the mitigation of having had a few owners in the space of a few years.

“Ironically it’s easier to succeed in the Champions League than Serie A, although we don’t have control over everything yet.

“I’m adamant that Juventus will be leading lights for several more years because the economic gap is so big. The Bianconeri are a model of reference, not only on the field.

“The club’s desire is to improve year after year. We want to prop up the squad with players who have a winning mentality.

“We’re negotiating with Godin, someone who has these characteristics. I repeat, the Zhang family wants to do well, despite the boundaries of Financial Fair Play.”

The 62-year-old was then asked about the future of Spalletti, amidst Antonio Conte speculation…

“He has two years left on his contract and the team are on track with the objectives we’ve set,” he replied.

“He isn’t a rookie, he’s proven to be able to play his part. The Conte rumours stem from the facts that he is unattached and has a winning profile.

“It’s normal for him to be linked with big clubs.”
