Hellas went into the weekend in joint sixth place with Milan and Parma, challenging for a place in Europe, but Napoli are also piling on the pressure.

“Everything you need to know about this season is that a few weeks ago Cagliari were in the fight for a Champions League spot, now they are below us,” said the Verona coach in his press conference.

“It’s a fine line and things can change quickly. Cagliari went into a training retreat, so they will be fired up, fearful of things getting worse. It will be a difficult match.

“We’re not looking at statistics, unbeaten runs or records, we just want to put in a good performance and keep doing well.”

Miguel Veloso is suspended in midfield, with Fabio Borini and Giampaolo Pazzini injured, while Marco Davide Faraoni is in doubt too.

“We will certainly have to adapt and change in some ways. We risk becoming sterile in attack, so need someone who can push through and run into space. Claud Adjapong could get his chance, as he is the logical replacement for Faraoni.

“Humility is the greatest virtue for a team like ours. If we lose that, we become vulnerable, so we cannot afford dips in concentration.

“I am not thinking about Europe either. It’s not that I don’t want us to quality, but the team must keep up this tempo. We’re not safe from relegation yet and I think it’ll take at least 40 points to be sure.”
