“I describe this match as a stress-test,” said the coach in his press conference.
“This is a great opportunity to see what we are capable of and where we can improve. Lazio are in the hunt for the Scudetto and a pleasure to play against.
“It won’t be enough to have a top-class Genoa. We need a Genoa that is over the top! I don’t have a crystal ball to tell me how we stop Lazio, so the only thing we can do is be the best Genoa we can. Our identity is paramount. Only by concentrating on ourselves can we achieve our objectives, not get caught up in waves of negativity or positivity.
“As a coach, what makes me most proud is that players feel useful to the team, no matter how many games they play. Everyone here is a potential starter.”
