Inter forward Stevan Jovetic is "not afraid to say the word Scudetto” but Juventus “remain the favourites”.

The Nerazzurri lead Serie A going into the winter break, one point ahead of Napoli and Fiorentina and three ahead of the Old Lady.

“We’re up there and we want to continue to do well,” Jovetic told Premium Sport.

“We’ll do our best to continue to be leaders. For my part I hope to score a lot of goals and provide assists.

“I’m not afraid to say the word ‘Scudetto’. I believe, if I didn’t I’d stay at home. I wasn’t expecting Inter to be top by Christmas, but it’s good, we’ve deserved it with our work.

“We’re an excellent team, and we’re among the five who will fight to the end. Juve remain the favourites, they’re getting back to form.

“Then there’s Roma and Napoli and also Fiorentina.”

The Montenegrin forward was heavily linked with a move to the Bianconeri, but explains that the Beneamata simply wanted him more.

“The truth is that Juventus wanted me, and they spoke with my agent several times, but Inter were more interested.

“I got a call from [sporting director Piero] Ausilio and then [Coach Roberto] Mancini, who explained the project to me.

“Inter are a big team which has won a lot, and I knew they could be ideal for me, even after two years at [Manchester] City where I didn’t play much.

“I want to clarify one thing though: when I was at Fiorentina it was written that I’d said ‘Ciao Florence, I’m going to Juve’.

“I totally deny that, I spent five beautiful years in Florence, and I’d never say something like that.

“I was fine in Florence, along with my hometown of Podgorica it’s the city which has entered my heart. They welcomed me very well, but unfortunately I’ll have to play against them now, as a professional.

“With Fiorentina I scored my best goal in Italy, against Inter actually, a strike that [Samir] Handanovic remembers well!

“There was also my most important, the goal against Sporting Lisbon [Sporting Clube de Portugal] to go to the Champions League.”

Finally, Jovetic addressed rumours that he doesn’t get along with Mauro Icardi.

“People talk, but we have a great relationship. We'll get a lot of goals, and we'll improve so much because we've only played six or seven games together."
