New Inter signing Stevan Jovetic reveals Coach Roberto Mancini convinced him to join the Nerazzurri.

The Montenegrin forward has arrived from Manchester City on loan with an obligation to buy, and admits Mancio was crucial in his decision.

“We had talked already about going to City,” Jovetic told reporters at his official presentation.

“Then this summer he wanted me, he talked to me and he convinced me. The club showed me it’s project, and that motivated me to come to Milan.”

The Beneamata’s pre-season results have not been impressive, but Jovetic is convinced they will be ready for the visit of Atalanta on Sunday.

“We’ve trained very well, and the friendlies helped us, despite the results. We’re ready for Sunday, we can’t wait to play.

“Friendlies are useful to experiment, but your legs are still heavy. There are so many new players, it takes time. But I hope we’ll be ready for the start of the season.

"Third place? I think we can achieve that. There are a lot of good teams in this League, but we have a strong squad.

“Scoring in the derby [in Week 3]? I hope to score straight away against Atalanta! I know the derby is very important, I hope I can score against everyone.”

Jovetic was seated alongside sporting director Piero Ausilio, and joked that the club would have to make even more investment to compete for the Scudetto.

“We hope we’ll get some more reinforcements,” Jovetic smiled.

“If we get another big transfer then we should be able to do it [win the Scudetto]!”
