The Montenegrin forward has returned to Serie A with the Nerazzurri following a difficult two seasons in England, and opened up about his struggles at his official presentation.

“From the beginning I had a lot of problems,” Jovetic explained.

“Then even when I was playing well, the manager [Manuel Pellegrini] would substitute me right away. I still gave my all. Now I will show who I really am.

“After the first year [at City] I knew I would stay, then things didn’t go well, and I didn’t play, so I decided to move. Above all after being left off of the Champions League list.

“I grew up in Manchester, especially from a mental point of view, and I’ll prove that on the pitch.”

Jovetic has taken the number 10 shirt previously worn by Mateo Kovacic, and admits it wasn’t his first choice.

“When I arrived I wanted the number 8. Then I took the number 35 I’ve previously used. Mateo, unfortunately left and then I choose 10. I’m happy to wear it.”
