“It is curious to be playing the first game of the season against Milan, but it’s a match like all the others. I hope to be ready and to do well,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“So far we’ve only played against these teams on the Playstation, yet we’re now going to be on the same field playing them for real. I’ve always liked Robinho and it’d be a pleasure to meet him.

“I’m happy that my name is linked to big clubs, as it reflects on the work I’ve done at Verona. Will I stay? That’s a good question, but yes, I am staying.

“I hope this will be my year and that of the team, then we’ll see. Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona: these are the clubs you dream of playing for as a child.”
