Jorginho will start in Italy’s midfield tonight and will be looking to get his revenge after missing a penalty kick in the reverse fixture in Basel.

The former Napoli and Hellas Verona Regista is one of Roberto Mancini’s ‘untouchables’ having played 35 of Mancio’s 44 games in charge of La Nazionale.

He has played 3,036 minutes out of 4,050 during Mancini’s reign, scoring five goals, all from the spot.

However, the Chelsea star missed the last two penalty kicks for the Azzurri. The first one was against England during the UEFA Euro 2020 Final and the second one against Switzerland, in the reverse fixture in Basel in September which ended 0-0.

Jorginho converted two penalties without the famous jump

After that game, Jorginho admitted that he was aware goalkeepers were studying him, so he had to do the same.

The Brazil-born midfielder has then changed his penalty technique. Back in October, he scored a brace from the spot with Chelsea without the famous jump.

Jorginho will take a spot-kick if there will be one, hoping for a different result.

How do Italy qualify for 2022 World Cup? All the options

This past June, Jorginho started in Italy’s midfield when the Azzurri faced the Swiss in a UEFA Euro 2020 group stage game in Rome.

Nicolò Barella and Manuel Locatelli completed the Azzurri’s midfielder with Marco Verratti injured, just like tonight.

Jorginho is one of the candidates to win the Ballon d’Or this year along with his compatriots Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Gigio Donnarumma and Nicolò Barella.

  1. Why did u miss that penalty against the Swiss,
Jorghino also need to be scoring more not just from the penalty spot sometimes he gets in good areas but always tries a an virtually an impossible pass in a crowded penalty area
Go for goal sometimes u never know u might score that’s what great players do
