Cremonese have beaten Feyenoord to the signing of Heracles Almelo and Italy Under-21 international Giacomo Quagliata, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The 22-year-old left-back is from Palermo and played at various lower-level clubs including Pro Vercelli until his January 2020 transfer to Dutch side Heracles.

He now has 54 Eredivisie appearances, in which he scored one goal and provided five assists.

His contract runs to June 2023 and there had also been strong interest for a stay in the Netherlands with Feyenoord.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio claims Quagliata is heading back to Serie A for Cremonese, who were promoted after finishing second in Serie B last season.

The deal is believed to be worth circa €2m, while Heracles Almelo will also retain a 15 per cent cut of his future sell-on fee.

Quagliata has four caps for Italy at Under-21 level and was recently called up by senior Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini for a training camp.
