Paris Saint-Germain have chosen Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma as their goalkeeper for next season, so Keylor Navas could be sold.

The two shot-stoppers shared the gloves last term, creating uncertainty and controversy for both of them and preventing any consistent run of games.

Former Milan star Donnarumma made only 24 competitive appearances for the club following his free transfer from San Siro, while Navas was chosen for 26 matches.

According to Le Parisien, PSG and their new coach Christophe Galtier have decided not to continue that job-sharing role, instead naming EURO 2020 winner Donnarumma as the first choice goalkeeper.

That means Navas could now be sold over the summer to avoid continuing that tension, not so much between the players as with fans and the media.

However, the same report suggests defender Sergio Ramos is urging PSG to keep hold of Navas as a strong presence in the locker room.

Inevitably, the lack of regular playing time has affected Donnarumma’s development and consequently his performances for Italy too.

  1. @Duke…

On what basis do you make your comment?

Navas is a very good goalkeeper. However, to state that Navas is “…far better,” is simply void of factual evidence.

Navas is better with distribution and footwork. Hopefully, with more consistent playing time, Donnarumma wil improve more rapidly with his ball distribution and footwork.

  2. Now we’ll see if that Messi led South American clique really exists and what power, if any, they have.

Ramos getting the player power ball rolling…

  3. Navas is good enough to be a first choice goalie – napoli and lazio should get him – but the mid teams in italy just dont like to improve bar atalanta
