Neither side qualified for this summer’s World Cup, despite being two of Europe’s traditional powerhouses.

“The Juventus Stadium in Turin will host a friendly between Italy and the Netherlands on Monday June 4,” a statement on the Federation’s website confirmed.

“It will be the 21st ever time the two National Teams have met, with the Azzurri just edging it in terms of previous encounters.

“They’ve recorded nine wins, eights draws and three defeats, with the last friendly taking place on 28th March in Amsterdam and the away side winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Eder and [Leonardo] Bonucci.

“The National Team have played in Turin on a total 37 occasions [24 wins, eights draws and five defeats] and are so far unbeaten in three matches held at the Juventus Stadium.”

The match follows a friendly with France in Nice on June 1, which could well be the debut match for the new Italy CT.
