Atalanta captain Papu Gomez says they exited the Europa League “with heads held very high” after the defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

The Orobici were beaten 4-3 on aggregate by the German giants, drawing 1-1 last night as a late goal saw them eliminated.

“In every corner of our dressing room were your messages,” Gomez posted on his Instagram page.

“Thank you again, from the heart, for supporting the team, damn those final 10 minutes…
