Mancini: ‘Jorginho deserves the Ballon d’Or, Donnarumma…’

Roberto Mancini confirmed during his press conference that Calabria could have joined the Azzurri.

The 24-year-old made his senior Azzurri debut in November 2020 and has two Italy caps to his name.

Andrea Belotti is likely to pull out of the national team and return to Turin due to a slight injury.

If the Torino captain leaves the Italy training camp, he won’t be replaced.

  1. DeLorenzo, played an awesome Euro and so its hard to argue with Mancini as we won the Euros. Calabria as of late has been playing fantastic and can agree that he should have been included on the squad. With that said, having too many players to call up is a good problem, but a few being left off will cause these types of debates, Nonetheless, Forza Azzurri.

  2. I would argue that di Lorenzo did not have a good euro, and was actually Italy’s weakest point. He gave away a silly penalty vs Belgium and generally contributes very little offensively. That’s why we were a bit toothless in the final, with spinazzola injured. All of our threat was down spinazzola’s side. Di Lorenzo is reliable defensively, but calabria who had a brilliant season last season is more of a complete full back.

  3. Di Lorenzo is a weak link. Apart from the needless penalty mistake against Belgium, he was also culpable for the goal conceded in the final against England. He left Shaw with too much time and space with poor positioning. Italy need a more reliable right back. Calabria is a better option
