Vincenzo Italiano reiterates he is ‘happy to have’ Dusan Vlahovic in the Fiorentina squad after a 4-0 win over Salernitana.

The Viola have truly found their feet recently and consolidated fifth place by thrashing Salernitana 4-0 at the Stadio Franchi.

Serie A | Fiorentina 4-0 Salernitana: Vlahovic invincible

“We didn’t start that strong, but Salernitana closed all the spaces in the first half-hour and were dangerous on the counter,” Italiano told DAZN.

“The difference now from earlier in the season is that we are more effective in front of goal and take more of our chances, which in turn allows us to play with more calm once the deadlock is broken.

“Now there are three games left in 2021 and we want to see out the year in the best possible way.”

Giacomo Bonaventura scored from outside the box, then Dusan Vlahovic bagged a brace before his shot was parried into the path of Youssef Maleh.

That means Vlahovic has now scored 32 Serie A goals in 2021, just one shy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s record with Juventus.

“As I always said, Vlahovic trains really hard, he is hungry and constantly improving, so I am very happy to have him in the squad. He is a very effective player in front of goal.”
