Vincenzo Italiano said Spezia ‘prepare for another difficult match’ and said his men ‘can’t afford to drop’ against Fiorentina.

After the many compliments for the 2-0 win over Milan last weekend, Italiano prepares for the next match on Friday and stressed his men must keep focused on their preparations during the week.

“We picked up three important points for our position in the table,” he said at a press conference. “We take the points but above all the performance, that I’m convinced came from the week of preparation in training.

“We are satisfied but I think we prepared like the previous games and for tomorrow’s match against Fiorentina.

“For us, they are all games that if we don’t prepare like this, it becomes impossible to play.

“We can’t afford to drop in concentration. I hope the assessments give the team that extra boost to give their best and put Fiorentina in difficulty on Friday evening.”

The many compliments for Spezia’s performances are welcome but he is focused on giving the project continuity.

“I obviously prefer these weeks than talking about burning defeats or performances that are not good enough,” he continued.

“We take these compliments that come after the resumption of preparation and, as I always tell the lads, we have to put everything aside and think about the next match, like we did this week.

“We are trying to prepare for yet another difficult match in this League, against a team of absolute quality.

“We hope to give continuity to these two important and beautiful results for us, we will try to put into practice what we have tried these days.”

Italiano said he looks forward to meeting his former coach Cesare Prandelli.

“It will be a great pleasure to see him again,” he said. “I expect a Fiorentina that has to get the most out of the game, because the table says so.

“They have to force the game, attack and win.”
