Roberto Rossi, the professor who performed a meniscus surgery on Paul Pogba, says the conservative therapy ‘worsened the situation’ and predicts a recovery time of eight weeks.

The France international had initially decided against undergoing surgery to solve a lesion to the lateral meniscus in his right knee.

However, he had opted for conservative therapy, which didn’t work out. Pogba trained twice on the pitch over the last week but showed inconsistent developments, so he underwent surgery on Monday.

He was expected to remain out of action for five weeks, but the recovery process will start from scratch now.

“The lesion to the lateral meniscus was tricky because the tissue was fragmented and the meniscal injury had worsened and when the player tried to force it by running into the field,” Rossi, the doctor who performed the surgery, told Tuttosport.

“The conservative therapy did not work, on the contrary, the injury worsened. When we intervened, there were no conditions to complete a broken meniscus suture. It was only possible to intervene with a meniscectomy.”

Rossi said that Pogba won’t return to training with the rest of his teammates for at least “eight weeks.”

The France international said yesterday that “the operation went well, we will recover and come back very, very soon.”

Juventus looked annoyed with Pogba’s decision to postpone surgery, losing one month of potential recovery. Both Max Allegri and Maurizio Arrivabene have claimed that Pogba’s participation in the World Cup with France is not their problem and are only focused on his return to the pitch for Juventus.

The Frenchman, who returned to Turin on a free transfer from Manchester United in the summer, won’t play his first competitive game with the Serie A giants before January 2023.

Inter are a much more caring club, look at how we looked after Kanu under previous administrations and how we we looked after Eriksen with the current owners as an example.
