Simone Inzaghi discussed the difficult fight for the Scudetto next season, his relationship with Steven Zhang and the gap with intercity rivals Milan.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri had an incredibly close fight for the league title last season and they were ultimately separated by only two points, with the latter coming out on top. Despite the failure to win the Scudetto, Inzaghi still guided Inter to both a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana.

Speaking to DAZN, Inzaghi first discussed if he and Inter are looking for revenge next season.

“I wouldn’t say that, I’d have to do great work to repeat the season we had. We did very, very well, we played beautiful football for a long part of the season, so I’m very satisfied.”

He touched on how it felt to miss out on the Scudetto and if they’re ready for the fight in the upcoming campaign.

“It would have been a stratospheric year with the Scudetto, which we missed out on by two points. We’ll try to win it this year knowing that we have rivals who’ll want to do the same and who have improved. We’ve been working since July 6 with that goal in mind.”

The Italian coach spoke about the transfer market and how Inter were counted out after last summer.

“Last year after the various sales there was no talk about Inter, then we did so well in three or four months, playing so well that everyone pointed to us as the favourites.

“There are so many teams that have spent much more than Inter that will have the goal of winning.”

He gave his thoughts on president Steven Zhang.

“Does he gives us that extra push? That definitely, having close ownership and management is enormously pleasing because they support us every day, never letting us lack anything.”

Finally, Inzaghi discussed the possible gap to Milan and how he views the two teams.

“We saw last year, we met four times. Once we won, once they won and then there were two draws.

“In the cups we did better, they did great in the league because they really did something extraordinary.”

I’m very satisfied too. Let’s all pray and hope you finish second again! Haha ! Forza 2-1!!

  2. He did so well in the Feb derby that even a snake like Crapanoglu felt free to criticize him publicly. Inzaghi is a weak man
