“It’s a pity, because he was just starting to get into our systems. The next month will be an intensive fixture list and we hope Nani won’t be out for too long, but he certainly can’t play for a couple of weeks.
“I am happy with the overall performance, as it’s not easy to find the right concentration for a game where everything is already decided. Despite conceding an early goal against Vitesse, a side that won the Dutch Cup, we did well to keep our shape.
“Now we must prepare for Fiorentina this weekend and it’s not easy, as they are a fine team.”
Defender Bastos was in the starting XI after his double error in the Derby della Capitale defeat to Roma.
“I wanted to make sure Bastos got straight back out there, as he had to get over what happened on Sunday. I knew he’d have a good game tonight.”
