The Coach held his Press conference inside the Centrale train station in Milan, preparing to take the Freccia Rossa for this away fixture.

“I speak to Adriano Galliani three or four times a day. He knows full well what I think and I know what he and the President think,” noted Inzaghi.

“I would like to continue my work. The club will make its decision and I only want what is best for Milan. There are difficult years, but we must always give something more to get back up.

“I am happy here and will always give everything for this jersey.”

The Rossoneri have no chance of qualifying for Europe, but did secure a surprise victory over Roma last week.

“I think we proved on Saturday night that if we stay concentrated and the players work for each other, it’s a great squad.

“Of course it created problems that we never really had Stephan El Shaarawy, Riccardo Montolivo, Mattia De Sciglio or Ignazio Abate this season.

“I think the foundations are good and with a few new faces this side can be competitive again. We didn’t have the season we expected, but the situation isn’t as bleak as it might look.

“We changed so many systems because we had so many injuries. The 4-3-3 is the formation the team knows best, even if there’s no such thing as a tactic to make us win. What really improves a performance is ferocity and desire to win.”

Milan have famously struggled against Sassuolo, including a 4-3 defeat here that saw Max Allegri sacked.

“They are an excellent side and we will try to be ourselves, even if we have a few issues on the left. We lost De Sciglio and Luca Antonelli, so we must adapt one from Salvatore Bocchetti, Daniele Bonera and Cristian Zaccardo.

“We want to give a sense of consistency to our results, to prove the victory over Roma was not an isolated incident. We know it’s tough, but we want to win.

“Do we miss Jeremy Menez? He’s a great player, but we cannot be dependent on just one man. We must always be a team.”
