Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi reportedly gathered the team for a speech in Formello yesterday, while a meeting with Claudio Lotito to discuss his future at the club appears to be imminent.

Lazio have qualified for the last 16 stage of the Champions League for the first time in 20 years but the Biancocelesti have had the worst start of the Inzaghi era in Serie A.

Inzaghi’s €2m-a-year contract expires in 2021 and according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Claudio Lotito could meet the coach before the home clash against Napoli this weekend.

Inzaghi reportedly demands a €3m-a-year salary but Lazio are not going to offer as much.

Lotito could offer a one-year, €2.5-a-year deal adding bonuses in case of Champions League qualification.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi is trying to turn things around.

Yesterday he reportedly made a speech to the team saying: “We need to return to be a solid group, the team is the only thing that matters.”

Some of Lazio’s most important players also took the floor pushing the team to believe in themselves because they “can get back on track.”

Lazio sit 9th in the Serie A table with 18 points from the opening 12 League games.
