Simone Inzaghi confirms Lazio will make changes against Vitesse, with Luca Crecco and Simone Palombi to feature.

The Biancocelesti are already through as the winners of Europa League Group K, so they can afford to rotate for the final two games.

Simone Inzaghi confirms Lazio will make changes against Vitesse, with Luca Crecco and Simone Palombi to feature.

The Biancocelesti are already through as the winners of Europa League Group K, so they can afford to rotate for the final two games.

“We’ll see Crecco and Palombi tomorrow,” Inzaghi confirmed in his pre-match Press conference.

“Crecco has been with us since January and he’s always been ready when called upon, he scored against Palermo. I wanted to keep him with us, because he’s a lad who always makes himself available.

“Then we had the problem with all of those injuries against Napoli, so he stayed out in favour of Mauricio. He’ll try to give us a hand tomorrow.

“Palombi played a normal game against Spal, as everyone did, he’s coming back from a bad injury but he’s trained in the best way.

“He’ll have his chance tomorrow.”

The Aquile lost the Derby della Capitale to Roma on Saturday night, and Inzaghi was asked to reflect on that match.

“We’ve all taken the defeat, no excuses. There’s a lot of disappointment, but we’ll have to use that to grow in the next games, we need a reaction like we got after Napoli.

“I know it’s not the same for the fans as the derby, but we have to restart stronger than before.

“In the Europa League we’ve done well to tie up the result, now we have to play a good game and some players who have played less will be given their chance.

“I’ve always made changes in Europe, but we’re obliged to put in a good performance before Fiorentina.”

Roma’s first goal came as a result of a penalty, with Bastos bringing down Aleksandar Kolarov.

“As I said, I don’t want to make excuses,” Inzaghi shrugged.

“I did naive things. I’ve heard people talking about the referee being a homer, and that the balls disappeared [Roma were fined €2,500 for time wasting by the ball boys] but these things happen.

“The worst mistake we could make would be to look for excuses, we lost because we made serious mistakes.

“I want to see a great reaction, that of a mature team. We need to restart from here, it’s a painful defeat but it can give us motivation for the future.

“After we lost to Napoli we won nine games in a row. We have a difficult fixture list, but we need to start again.”

Finally, the Coach was asked about his use of Jordan Lukaku, who had made just one start this season.

“He’s been held back by a lot of physical problems, he came back from the national team with a muscular strain.

“He’s a player with potential, he’ll be important. Before the derby he, along with [Sergej] Milikovic-Savic was last back from international duty.

“From here to the end of the season his growth will be constant, he’ll play more. I’ve always considered him an important weapon though.”
