Simone Inzaghi saw an “excellent” Lazio against “the most-in form team in Europe” in the shape of Inter.

The Biancocelesti won 2-1 at San Siro tonight to advance to the Semi-Finals of the Coppa Italia and a potential showdown with Roma.

“The only regret is that we could have been four or five goals up after 70 minutes,” Inzaghi said in his post-match Press conference.

The Biancocelesti won 2-1 at San Siro tonight to advance to the Semi-Finals of the Coppa Italia and a potential showdown with Roma.

“The only regret is that we could have been four or five goals up after 70 minutes,” Inzaghi said in his post-match Press conference.

“We missed some glaring opportunities. It was an excellent Lazio against the most in-form team in Europe and Italy.

“We showed character, we played our game. We suffered after the sending off of [Stefan] Radu, but all credit to my lads who played with great personality.

“Against the team which is, at the moment, the strongest in Italy and Europe we deservedly won. The only drawback is that we didn’t win it before, as we had some great chances.

“We know Inter’s philosophy, that they’d press us high. I can’t reproach my forwards for anything though, as they contributed so much in both phases of play.

“Then we had [Samir] Handanovic in front of us, one of the best goalkeepers out there. Don’t forget we were playing at San Siro against Inter.

“The Semi-Final? There will be time to think about that. If it’s Roma then we all know what it means, it will be nice for our fans.

“There’s still a bit of time before that though, we have some very important games to play and we need to be ready.”

Today saw Ricardo Kishna leave the club for Lille, and Inzaghi explains that the winger asked to be let go.

“The lad expressed his desire to move on, just like [Danilo] Cataldi and [Moritz] Leitner.

“I had told the lads that I didn’t want unhappy people. I spoke with the lad this morning and he told me he couldn’t continue in this situation any longer, we decided along with the club to let him go.

“With the return of Keita [Baldé] we have several strikers, plus the option of [Senad] Lulic.

“Kishna, just like Leitner and Cataldi, always trained in the best way, but my mind was made up in attack.”
