Simone Inzaghi said Lazio “made it look easy, but it certainly was not” after flattening Sampdoria 5-1, while Ciro Immobile is “a real team player.”

The Aquile have made history with 11 consecutive Serie A victories, something achieved only by Roma, Juventus, Inter and Napoli.

“We’re going through an excellent period of form and deserve every point we have, as despite missing some players during this run, the team always remained solid and united,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia after a 5-1 win over Sampdoria.

“Samp had been in good shape, so we made it look easy with the right approach, but it most certainly was not.”

Lazio have the chance to make it 12 in a row with next week’s showdown against their arch-rivals Roma in the Derby della Capitale.

“The lads believe in what we’re doing and I am very happy, but we’ve got to continue like this and not take our foot off the gas. We’ve got the derby coming up and have to stay focused.

“I know what a derby means to us and what a 12th consecutive victory would mean, so that is our objective, but I cannot afford to think about it any differently to other games.”

Immobile now has 23 goals in 19 Serie A games, securing a hat-trick this afternoon, as well as six assists.

“It’d take ages to stand here listing Ciro’s records. He is a great goalscorer, but first and foremost a real team player. I realised straight away, he is practically the third captain after Senad Lulic and Marco Parolo. The goals are only part of his contribution.”
