Simone Inzaghi highlighted Inter’s desire following a frustrating period ahead of their match against Fiorentina tomorrow.

The Nerazzurri have only picked up one win in their last five league outings, giving up top spot in the league table to intercity rivals Milan. They also were knocked out of the Champions League by Liverpool, frustrating considering their impressive 1-0 win at Anfield. The team now sit four points behind the Rossoneri, with a game against Bologna still in hand.

Speaking to InterTV, Inzaghi first discussed the desire to pick up all three points again after a tough run.

“Without a doubt right now we feel that we’ve collected less than we deserved but there is the right desire.

“In these days the guys have worked very well, there is a lot of desire to return to the pitch and we must do it with great intelligence and focus.”

He touched on the importance of having more time to prepare for games now, following the end of their Champions League run.

“Having more days to prepare for the games certainly helps to work on situations that don’t go well and on certain details but it’s true that we are Inter.

“We’ve progressed in the Champions League, we’re still in the running in the Coppa Italia so the desire is to play often because it means we’ve been competitive throughout the year.”

The former Lazio coach commented on the team’s strong performances, which have remained decent despite the frustrating results.

“I’d be more worried as a coach if I saw that the team wasn’t creating games and chances. It’s normal that we have to be good at directing the games in the right way, to make sure that the individual moments are on our side to try to control the game better.”

Inzaghi discussed what kind of match he expects against Fiorentina tomorrow.

“We’ll face a healthy team that is doing well in the league, with a coach who has great ideas and gives a precise imprint to his teams.

“We’ve been working over the last few days to be ready, knowing that we’ll be up against an opponent of absolute value.”

Finally, Inzaghi commented on the fact that six of Inter’s final run of games are at home.

“The fans throughout the season have always been by our side, always numerous at home and away and our thought is to make them happy and proud to see their team on the pitch.”
