Both Simone Inzaghi and Francesco Acerbi have reportedly accepted plea bargains after they were placed under investigation for their behaviour during Inter’s win over Roma, totalling €17,000 in fines.

It was a fiery and controversial match at the Stadio Olimpico that sparked controversy even after the final whistle.

Acerbi had opened the scoring with a looping header and celebrated at the end of a long VAR check by flipping his middle finger at the crowd of Roma supporters.

The former Lazio defender, who twice battled cancer earlier in his career, said he was responding to chants from the Roma fans wishing death upon him.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi was sitting out a one-match touchline ban and watched his team from the press box.

That made it all too easy to tell that he was speaking to his staff and possibly even the players by phone during the game and especially the half-time break.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttomercatoweb, Inzaghi accepted a plea bargain and will pay a €3,500 fine, with the same amount matched by Inter.

Acerbi has agreed to pay a €5,000 fine and again Inter must cover the same sum to avoid a ban.

  1. That is chicken feed for their pay packets!
What is wrong with talking on the phone. All sport coaches do it when they get suspended for some reason! It is 2024 not 1924. LOL
