Reports from Germany have linked Antonio Conte with the Bayern Munich job, but is the Italian tactician a real candidate for the Bundesliga giants?

The Bavarian outfit shocked many recently by unexpectedly announcing their plans to part ways with head coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season, unimpressed with his inability to keep up with Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen and the team’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg loss to Lazio.

A number of coaches have now been floated as possible options in the Bayern dugout, with the apparent favourite being Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, who has also heavily been linked with Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp is ready to depart after nine historic years.

Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto provided an update on the links between Conte and Bayern via Caught Offside.

The coach’s current priority is still in Italy, wanting to coach a Serie A club, but he wouldn’t rule out a top project abroad. Bayern have got Conte on their shortlist, but he’s not the priority currently, with Alonso in the club’s crosshairs.
