Simone Inzaghi admits Inter are stretched a little thin with a packed fixture list, but urges them to ‘focus on Verona’ this evening.

It kicks off at 19.45 GMT at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The pressure is on ahead of the Supercoppa clash with rivals Milan in Riyadh on January 18, while there is also the risk of fatigue after an extra time Coppa Italia win over Parma.

“It’s the fixture list, we just played 120 minutes on Tuesday, now our focus is clearly on Verona and on Wednesday there’s the Supercoppa,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

Romelu Lukaku, Marcelo Brozovic and Samir Handanovic are still out of action, while Hakan Calhanoglu is in the starting XI and Nicolò Barella is on the bench.

Roberto Gagliardini is chosen in the middle of the park rather than Kristjan Asllani.

“At this moment we have a few problems in midfield. Calhanoglu and Barella are back, but clearly they are carrying issues. I decided to start with Calhanoglu and then we could bring Barella on during the game.”

With Juventus losing 5-1 against Napoli last night and Milan dropping points in a 2-2 draw at Lecce today, it is an opportunity for Inter to close on the teams ahead of them.

“We need to focus on one game at a time, we know there’s going to be a packed fixture list, and try to get points every time.”
