Ismael Bennacer insists Milan ‘still believe in the Scudetto’ and the Supercoppa Italiana after fighting back from 2-0 down to scrape a point at Lecce.

It was a disastrous start for them at the Stadio Via del Mare, as Theo Hernandez bundled into his own net and Federico Baschirotto steered a free header in for 2-0.

Rafael Leao and Davide Calabria managed to get them back on track, but they were still hoping for more from this fixture.

“We wanted all three points and did not get off to a good start, conceding two early goals, but we got back into the game,” the midfielder told DAZN.

“We could’ve scored a third too. We are all united and know that we have to keep working.”

Napoli now go nine points clear at the top of the table after flattening Juventus 5-1 last night, while Inter could threaten Milan’s second place status too.

However, the Rossoneri are only one point worse off than at this stage last season, suggesting the really big difference is the surge from Napoli.

“We still believe in the Scudetto and we will do until the end. We must analyse what didn’t work and try to improve.”

There is silverware up for grabs on Wednesday January 18 in Riyadh, where Milan face Coppa Italia holders Inter for the Supercoppa Italiana.

“We are a big club, even in difficult moments. It’s a Final on Wednesday and you have to win Finals,” said Bennacer.
