Securing a top four finish and qualification to the Champions League is vital for Inter this season as they look ahead to the near-future.

The Nerazzurri missed out on the Scudetto by just two points last season and again find themselves in second place in the league, although this time they’re 18 points behind league leaders Napoli.

With the league title essentially out of reach, Inter are now already laying the groundwork for the 2023-24 season, and a key part of that is qualifying for the Champions League.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will go down one of two paths at the end of the season, depending on whether or not they finish in the top four.

Qualifying for Europe’s premier club competition allows them to continue with Suning’s project as planned and will give them enough resources to pick up a new defender to replace Milan Skriniar.

Failing to finish in the top four, however, would likely spell the end of Simone Inzaghi’s time at the helm of the club and they could be forced to sell one or two top players, a reality they’ve already experienced following their recent Scudetto success.
