Hakan Calhanoglu may be forced to sit out of Inter’s Supercoppa Italiana clash with intercity rivals Milan.

The 28-year-old is one of a handful of players to have plied his trade for both Milanese clubs, spending four years with the Rossoneri before moving across the city to the Nerazzurri. Calhanoglu has grown into an important part of Simone Inzaghi’s midfield and has contributed to eight goals this season for Inter.

As reported by Tuttosport, Inter are concerned about Calhanoglu’s hip injury, an issue that saw him come off the pitch in the 55th minute of the 2-2 draw with Monza on Saturday. There’s fears that the Turk has suffered a strain and will be forced to miss out on the Supercoppa Italiana final against Milan, scheduled for January 18.

Calhanoglu has faced his former side five times before, winning just once and losing twice. He is now a much-maligned figure amongst the Rossoneri faithful.
