According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will ask their star striker Lautaro Martinez to snub a call-up from the Argentinean national team during the international break in March.

Lionel Scaloni’s men have already qualified for Qatar 2022 and will meet Venezuela and Ecuador in their last two group stage games. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will ask Lautaro to avoid a trip to South America to focus on the title race especially given that Argentina have already booked their spot for the World Cup.

Inter will make the same request to the Argentinean FA, asking to also rest Joaquin Correa. It remains to be seen what the Argentinean FA and the players will decide.

The Nerazzurri will face Juventus at the Allianz Stadium immediately after the March break and want their players to be fully focused on the race for the title. Juventus also have an Argentinean player in the squad, Paulo Dybala and it is still unclear whether the Old Lady will make a similar request. Lautaro has recently extended his contract with Inter until 2026 but has yet to score a goal since the start of the year.
