There are new developments in the talks over Romelu Lukaku, as it’s reported Inter have set a limit of what they will pay Chelsea to take him on loan and won’t go beyond €8m.

The initial offer of €5m was rejected outright, but negotiations are continuing between the two clubs.

Sky Sport Italia had said that Inter were waiting for Chelsea to give their demands for the one-season loan, expected to be circa €15m.

However, now Calciomercato.com claim the Nerazzurri have decided to be pro-active instead and warn Chelsea there is a figure they will not go beyond.

That figure is €8m, although a couple more might be included in terms of performance-related bonuses.

Ultimately, Inter want to make it clear they don’t need Lukaku quite as much as Chelsea and the Belgium international need this move to go through.

After all, they sold him a year ago for €115m and still had the most prolific attack in Serie A this season without him, thanks to Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko, Alexis Sanchez and Joaquin Correa.

It is Lukaku who is pushing hard for the return to San Siro and Inter will only bring him back if it suits them financially.

6 thought on “Inter warn Lukaku and Chelsea they won’t raise their offer”
  1. Smart. Marotta has them over a barrel and he knows it. Up to them if they want to let him rot on the bench or come to Inter to maybe rebuild his transfer value.

  2. Lukaku is such a disappointment. What a big mistake. Unfortunately he is just a big lump. Does not have the intelligence of Drogba. Chelsea have other duds in the team. We need a major clearout.

  3. He is a one trick ox that can only power in the box. The EPL has proved it is above his level, and he has tried at two big clubs in that league. Going back to Inter is a good decision. He will dominate in an easier league. The fans will forgive him once he starts scoring. Credit as well to Dybala for understanding that the EPL would have swallowed him up, esp with those injuries. Good times ahead for Inter as PhD Max is building back not even older or slower. Nobody has even arrived at the 7/9 CL success story.

  4. Actually Lukaku was a success at Everton that’s why Man U paid big money for him. So to say EPL is above his level is inaccurate.

It’s down to the managers to get the best out of their players and utilize them properly.

Let’s make it clear EPL is not that high standard of football there are rich clubs (can buy who they want) and the rest are average clubs.

  5. @SNAKE Only thing high standard about the EPL Is their media and PR department who sell this BS of it being the most difficult league. You’re spot on. Its down to managers unable to get the best out of their players. Tuchel clearly doesn’t know how to utilise CFs properly. Look at Abraham who did very well under Lampard and is now doing the same under Mourinho, but under Tuchel he struggled badly. Werner is hardly played as a CF these days. How was Lukaku going to succeed under a manager like that? Btw he averaged a goal every 2 games in his 1st season at Man U under Mourinho. Things only went bad in his 2nd season because Solskjaer preferred Martial and Rashford to him.
