Nike currently pay Inter €10m a season, far behind most of the European heavyweights, and, most importantly, far behind domestic rivals Juventus, with Adidas paying the Bianconeri €51m a season.

The website reports that Adidas could be interested in sponsoring Inter, with their only foray into the Italian market being their association with Juventus since they parted ways with Milan last summer.

Beppe Marotta, currently general director with Inter, played a key role in bringing the German manufacturer together with Juventus when he was director of sport at the club several years ago.

It is hoped that Marotta could pull off the same feat for Inter.
