Inter have reportedly started talks with Stefan de Vrij’s agent Rafaela Pimenta to discuss a new contract.

The 30-year-old Dutchman’s current deal expires next year and things have been fairly quiet on the renewal front, with most of the focus being on the much-appreciated Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni. De Vrij was a consistent starter under Simone Inzaghi last season and the failure to sign Gleison Bremer means he’s likely to retain his position.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, the details of a new contract for De Vrij will be discussed after the summer transfer window ends, allowing the 30-year-old to face another season calmly, confident that his future is still tied to Inter.

De Vrij is happy in Milan and he’s considering the idea of renewing his deal and continuing his stay with the Nerazzurri. The Dutch centre back joined the club in 2018 on a free transfer after his contract expired with Lazio.

  1. AFAIK De Vrij did not want to renew, but maybe this mercato opened his eyes. No one was really interested in him even if he was available for a relative low fee. I would not be surprised if Inter offer him the same wages or even lower ones…
