Inter and Napoli are hard at work to keep Mauro Icardi and Lorenzo Insigne from each other.

The Partenopei have notoriously fixed their eyes on the Argentinian, offering up to €62m to the Nerazzurri and €6.8m per year to the player.

The club from Milan, however, is unwilling to consider a sale. Alongside the various meetings that took place between the 23-year-old's representatives and the directors, the Gazzetta dello Sport now reports of a summit held between the player himself and newly-signed Coach Frank De Boer.

The Dutchman explained to Icardi how central he is to his project and did his best to encourage him not to leave.

As this transfer saga develops, a parallel one for Insigne is just beginning. After the player's agent complained about the player's salary raise being unsatisfactory, there is a sense that the 25-year-old fantasista may leave.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis is willing to raise the player's wages from €1.8m yearly to €2.5m, but no more than that. Inter may step in and take advantage of that, particularly if their attempts to sign Gabigol from Santos don't go anywhere.

The Biscione are willing to offer €25m for Insigne. It will be interesting to see what kind of deal the two clubs work towards, as both have a mutual interest in each other's strikers, while at the same time both consider those strikers unsellable.
