Inter have confirmed that goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has been sidelined with a calf injury.

The 38-year-old Slovenian shot stopper has started to take a step back this season, giving up his starting spot in Serie A to Andre Onana after the 8th gameday. Handanovic’s last appearance for Inter came in their 2-1 loss to Roma on October 1st, but he’s still a valuable part of the dressing room, being a known leader in the squad.

As detailed by Inter, tests carried out today confirmed that Handanovic has suffered a muscle strain in his left calf, ruling him out of the Nerazzurri’s upcoming Coppa Italia clash with Parma. The 38-year-old will undergo a new round of tests in the coming days.

Handanovic’s contract with Inter expires in June and it’s still unclear if they’ll offer him another one-year deal or not. The Slovenian veteran has been with the club since July 2012 and has made 447 appearances across all competitions.
