Inter director Piero Ausilio confirms they are hunting for a striker, but insists Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun is ‘not the only one we are tracking.’

The Nerazzurri have made the USMNT hitman their number one target after losing out on Gianluca Scamacca, who completed the €30m move from West Ham United to Atalanta yesterday.

AS Monaco are also interested in Balogun and reportedly saw an offer rejected this week, as the Gunners maintain the €50m asking price.

“We are looking for someone who can score goals,” director of sport Ausilio told Sport Mediaset this evening.

When the name Balogun was put to him, the chief did not deny their negotiations with Arsenal.

“He is one of the opportunities, but not the only one we are tracking.”

Inter had tried to bring Romelu Lukaku back on a permanent basis from Chelsea after his loan spell, but that was abandoned after it emerged the Belgium international was also in talks with their bitter Serie A rivals Juventus.

“I am not interested,” replied Ausilio when asked about Lukaku’s current predicament.

The centre-forward has not even been given a shirt number at Chelsea, as Juve are trying to exchange him plus cash for Dusan Vlahovic.
