Roma continue their search for two strikers and the success or failure to secure Marcos Leonardo from Santos will decide whether they go for Luis Muriel or his Atalanta teammate Duvan Zapata.

The Giallorossi have been on the hunt for a centre-forward since Tammy Abraham suffered a serious knee injury that will rule him out for six months, but could also require an additional striker, considering Andrea Belotti failed to net a single Serie A goal last season.

Their main target now, having lost out on Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta and unable to afford Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid, is Marcos Leonardo.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma are now prepared to pay the €12m plus €6m asking price and Marcos Leonardo is not training with the rest of the squad today.

However, Santos remain wary, especially if Chelsea complete their attempt to sign Deivid Washington.

If Marcos Leonardo is secured, then Roma will go for Duvan Zapata to bring different characteristics.

However, their target would be Muriel if Leonardo does not come, in a deal worth €5m plus €1m in bonuses.
