“In truth, Pazzini was already ours last year,” grinned defender Materazzi.
He was referring to the brace the hitman scored in Sampdoria's 2-1 victory away to Roma, a result that essentially handed the Scudetto to Inter.
Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia suggest Genoa creative midfielder Kharja is also ready to put pen to paper at San Siro.
The Morocco international would arrive on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Kharja replaces Sulley Muntari, who should today complete his transfer to Sunderland.
“Negotiations are continuing and I hope we can conclude successfully some time today,” Kharja's agent Beppe Galli told Calciomercato.it.
In other transfer news, Sampdoria have sold young forward Bruno Fornaroli back to Nacional Montevideo.
