According to Sky Sport Italia, the two clubs have both approached the 24-year-old, who plays primarily on the right wing of a trident attack, but can also work on the left or as a support striker.

The former Roma youth product has scored four goals with three assists in 20 competitive games for Sassuolo this season.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are targeting Politano as the alternative if Simone Verdi refuses to leave Bologna mid-season.

Inter are also chasing Politano, but have very little spending money available right now, so are proposing an 18-month loan with obligation to buy.

Sassuolo are already on the look-out for replacements, specifically Riccardo Orsolini, who has struggled for playing time on loan with Atalanta from Juventus.
