Milan and Inter have already qualified for the 2022-23 Champions League, guaranteeing at a minimum an extra €30m in revenue.
Their victories over the weekend against Lazio and Roma respectively made it mathematically impossible for them to drop out of the top four.
Realistically, it’s now a two-way fight for the Scudetto, but the primary stated objective of Champions League qualification has already been reached.
According to Calcio e Finanza, that will be worth a minimum of €30m in fresh revenue for next season.
That is made up of €15.64m as a participation bonus and another €5m at least in their share of the market pool.
It could be more, as that is assuming the best they manage is fourth place in Serie A and leaving the Champions League group stage without a single victory.
The clubs are also due a bonus based on their historic achievements in Europe, which in 2021-22 brought Inter €16m and Milan €17m, although again that also depends on which other clubs manage to qualify.
It all means just qualifying for the Champions League will guarantee at least €30m in fresh revenue.
If all goes to plan, they should also benefit from 100 per cent capacity crowds, which was not the case during the COVID-19 pandemic when attendance was limited due to safety measures.
