President Erick Thohir wants Suning to join only if they will help Inter grow, whilst aiming for the Chinese market.

The Indonesian tycoon is working alongside former Nerazzurri President Massimo Moratti to sell part of the club's shares to the Chinese Suning Group.

“The main thing is that Inter must grow from this,” Thohir told Il Corriere dello Sport. “Moratti allowed me into the club because he understood that I could help him.

“If we bring in another strategic partner among the shareholders, then the objective is to improve Inter. We must be sure that this happens, much like Moratti made sure with me.

“What can Suning bring to Inter? I'll tell you that when we've signed, I can't go into details beforehand. Meanwhile Michael [Bolingbroke] went to China to gain a better understanding of the Chinese market and how to be successful there.

“We're already very popular in China, but not nearly as much as we could be. We have 130 million fans and we must develop our brand, but first we must probe the markets.

“Zhang Jindong is very involved and is helping develop this partnership.

“We have a few other negotiations, but as you can understand by Suning's visit in Milan, their group are in pole.”
