Barcelona confirm injuries to Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay, which should rule them out of the Champions League showdown with Inter.

These sides are neck-and-neck in their Champions League group, battling to qualify in second place behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich.

They face off at San Siro on October 4 and then at Camp Nou on October 12 in two games that will probably decide who reaches the Round of 16.

As expected, Ronald Araujo tore the tendon in his adductor and required surgery today in Finland.

That has not only ruled the Uruguay international out for the rest of the Champions League group phase, but also means he cannot participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, to be played in November and December.

Barcelona released an update this evening, confirming injuries sustained on international duty with the Netherlands in the Nations League.

De Jong has been diagnosed with an elongation of the semitendinosus of the left thigh, whereas Depay has a lesion to the femoral bicep in his left thigh.

The recovery time is not yet clear, but they are certainly going to be in doubt for the first match on October 4.
