La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Ciro Immobile tested positive for COVID, although neither the player nor his club Lazio have confirmed it.

The Italian striker has been self-isolating since his wife Jessica had tested positive for COVID.

This was the real reason why he had missed Lazio’s home clash against Genoa on Friday.

Yesterday’s reports suggested that the striker was self-isolating but had tested negative to several swab tests undergone on Friday.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper now claims the 31-year-old is also positive for COVID, so he will miss the upcoming match against Venezia on Wednesday.

Immobile already tested positive one year ago when he missed Champions League games against Club Bruges and Zenit.

However, he was given the green light to play against Torino between the two European fixtures. Immobile played 30 minutes and scored one goal.

Lazio were not punished for that, but their President Claudio Lotito was suspended for two months.

Lazio doctors Ivo Pulcini and Fabio Roda faced a five-month suspension for the same reason.
