Ciro Immobile’s brace against Salernitana means he has as many goals in Europe’s big five leagues as Cristiano Ronaldo since joining Lazio in 2016-17, specifically 140 in 195 games.

The Italy international was on target with an early double in this evening’s 3-0 victory away to Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi.

He came very close to a hat-trick, a header bouncing off the crossbar and hitting the line before going back out.

Nonetheless, the brace allowed Immobile to reach 140 Serie A goals in the Lazio jersey, achieved in just 195 games.

Opta point out that since 2016-17, Immobile has as many goals in Europe’s big five leagues as Cristiano Ronaldo, with both on 140.

CR7 was playing for Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United in that time, so La Liga, Serie A and the Premier League.

During the same period, he found the net fewer times than only Lionel Messi (Barcelona and PSG) on 163 and Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) with 179.

In all competition, Immobile has scored 170 goals in 243 appearances for Lazio, along with 44 assists.

4 thought on “Immobile has as many goals as Cristiano Ronaldo since 2016”
  1. There’s a big difference Ronaldo has scored at the highest level –
    CL finals for
    Man U,Madrid, Juve for Portugal,
wheras Ciro has failed badly in Spain and Germany doesn’t score many for Italy or in Europe
How can he be compared with Ronaldo after his brace against the mighty Salernita

  2. Please don’t even compare Immobile to Ronaldo. With a return of just .56 goals a game compare to .77 at club and a crappy .28 versus .64 at international level. Immobile is the biggest dud going around.

  3. Goes to show goals isn’t everything. Hopefully people will stop putting Ronaldo on a pedestal. He’s a great player no doubt, but he’s not worthy of being mentioned when it comes to GOATs of the game.

  4. @Pele – nobody compares to you for goals so there is no point discussing these also-rans!
@Homer – Immobile has 0.82 goals per game in the league and 0.69 overall. Some dud! Scoring for Italy has obviously been more difficult for him but he’s still a European champion so I doubt he cares very much!
@Andy – seriously? Ronaldo not worthy?! You are having a laugh!
It’s not fair, why can’t poor old Muriqi have a share of the these goals?! Even 1% and it would be a start!
