The striker earned and converted a penalty at the Stadio Sant’Elia, his first away goal since September.

It was the right response to suffering a 3-1 home defeat to Roma last week.

“That was a heavy defeat to Roma, but as we said, those who want to win must know how to get back on their feet and we proved it today,” Icardi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We’ve got to win them all and third place is not that far away. We must continue to do well and if we keep winning, we’ll certainly be up there.”

Icardi was on target today, but is falling behind in the Capocannoniere race, as Torino’s Andrea Belotti got a hat-trick.

“I am happy for him, he is doing well and the important thing for me is that Inter win. Today I helped contribute to goals for my team and that makes me happy.”
